Happy New Year ChainPoint’s!

Our Twentieth Year!
Thank you so much for a fantastic 2010 year and welcome to 2011! We are beginning our 20th year at Forest Applications Training, Inc. and we are so appreciative to you for making it all possible. Our training has grown at a comfortable, even pace over the years and is stacking up to be another amazing year…

Thank You!
Laura and I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers during her surgery time last week. She is doing well after repairing two hernias in her lower stomach area. They placed a piece of mesh in to support and reduce any future problems. I told her she probably has a bulletproof belly now - if the material is ballistic nylon…. She is looking forward to the Florida Training Tour next week.

Florida
We will be training again with the Florida Water Management District near Tampa and then be part of an open house and demonstration at Amsler’s in Brooksville, FL on Saturday January 15th. This is about the 15th year of being associated with Amsler’s Chainsaw Open House. Thank you Tim, Charlene, Theresa and Tammy for letting us take part! Looking forward to seeing all our old and hopefully some new friends….

TOH
Did you see the latest episode of Ask This Old House on Chain Sharpening and Safety? It came out really well and will be airing across the U.S. on all markets. It began on December 31 and will run and run throughout the year. Search your local TV listings for This Old House Hour or Ask This Old House. The episode number is 913. Tim Ard and Roger Cook host the segment. If you have seen the show let us know… place TOH in the subject and send to info@forestapps.com

Winter Schedule
We still have training dates open for the first of February. If you are considering a chain saw safety program for this year it would be a great time to start before schedules fill up. Contact Laura@forestapps.com for more information.

Elvex ® Videos
The drafts of the videos being produced by Elvex by Rob Lagerstrom are really going to be awesome. I viewed two of them, the Chaps and the Intro Segment, and they are very informative and would be great for use in your in-house safety programs. They advise viewers of the need for PPE and the different regulations to which Elvex complies. Filmed in the northern California redwood forests they are enjoyable to watch also…

Stihl® Recall
If you have a MS361, with the rear handle Quick Stop activation for the chain brake, you should take it to your local StihlÒ dealer for an immediate update. Do not use the saw until updated. The saw may not idle down and could cause loss of control. The MS362 QS is not effected by the recall.

Woolpower®
I am amazed at the WoolPower® clothing products. I took a motorcycle ride over the holiday. It was great and about 27 degrees. Crazy huh? I was comfortable though, the merino wool of Woolpower® keeps your body temp so regulated and comfortable. Another rider on the trip had electric heated garmets and he was pretty chilled. When you try to artificially regulate heat you constantly have to monitor conditions to keep from sweating and freezing. Woolpower® adjusts naturally. Article of the Week…
The article this week is on safety glasses written by Fred Ravetto for the ISHN magazine last May. The article is full of great information in the article to consider on the latest regulations and product updates.   Elvex® product links are found at our eStore.  http://www.Elvex.com   Aging Eyes…
