Starting your saw

The Game of Logging workshops stress safe chain saw starting techniques. Any method
that uses the chain brake and ensures that the saw is secure is acceptable. I do not
recommend the drop start, which is used by many loggers. I recommend the method illustrated below.

The left hand holds the front handle on the corner to tilt saw. The rear handle of saw is held between the legs with handle pressing against the right leg. With the chain brake engaged, the starter cord is pulled with the right hand. A quick pull starts the saw with complete control.
